Linux kernel source tree
Centralize the _GNU_SOURCE definition to CFLAGS in lib.mk. Remove redundant defines from Makefiles that import lib.mk. Convert any usage of "#define _GNU_SOURCE 1" to "#define _GNU_SOURCE". This uses the form "-D_GNU_SOURCE=", which is equivalent to "#define _GNU_SOURCE". Otherwise using "-D_GNU_SOURCE" is equivalent to "-D_GNU_SOURCE=1" and "#define _GNU_SOURCE 1", which is less commonly seen in source code and would require many changes in selftests to avoid redefinition warnings. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
